Paula Kathryn Brandt, 84, of Greenfield went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 4, at Copper Creek in Litchfield. She was born, March 19, 1939, to Ralph and Doris (McAdams) Arter in Jerseyville. She married William Brandt, July 29, 1956, in Jerseyville, and he survives.
Surviving are her three children: William “Bill” Brandt of Murrayville, Debra (David) Kirkland of Carlinville, and Sandra Bettis of Roodhouse. Granddaughters, Louann (Brad) Kahrhoff, Tara West, Renee (Nicole) Bettis, Jessie (Stephen) Miller, Jaimee (Jeff) Boston, Mary (Earnesto) Bernal, and 16 great-grandchildren. Siblings Georgetta (Gerald) Dean, Donna (Harold) Shatto, Harry (Shelly) Arter, and Brother-in-law Richard (Doris) Brandt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Jim Bettis, sister Nellie Faye and brother-in-law Stanley Darr and brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Edna Brandt.
Paula was a school bus driver for Greenfield School District for many years and loved running into the children later as adults. She owned H&B Optical in Jacksonville for ten years and made many great friends while running her business. She was an active member of Greenfield United Methodist Church for many years, where she sat on numerous committees and helped in preparing many meals for her church family. Paula and the love of her life Bill spent many years in southern Texas with their cherished winter Texan family after Bill’s retirement.
Paula was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She loved nothing more than telling her family how much she loved them and could often be heard saying, “love you forever and always."
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 9, at 10 am at the Greenfield Grace Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Gilead Cemetery southwest of Carrollton. A visitation will be from 5 until 7 pm, Thursday, February 8, at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Greenfield Grace Methodist Church.
